Happy Halloween!

Mimi in Action

This is a video we took of Mimi yesterday. It didn't really get caught on tape, but just before this video she was giving the biggest grins to the cross bar of her swing. Beats me what she saw up there!

So to all of our far-away family, here's Mimi!

God Speed

God Speed, Grandma. We'll miss you.

I'm grateful for our weekly lunches these past four years.

I'm grateful to have lived near you, and that my children know and love you.

I'm grateful for the strong example of serenity, peace, and kindness you've shown.

I'm grateful your earthly struggles are over. You're not in pain anymore.

I'm grateful you've had Grandpa by your side as your strongest advocate, and all the friends you've collected over the years who visited so often, and came bearing dinner and cookies for Grandpa and beautiful flowers and smiles for you.

I'm grateful that you love cartoons just as much as Ernie. You two have watched hours of Sesame Street together!

I'm grateful for the recipes you've passed down, and your love of food. Did I tell you that Bear wowed all his missionary roommates with your vegetable beef stew last week?

I'm grateful to be your name-sake. I hope I do our name proud.

I'm grateful for your spunk. "Where can I find some shortening?" "I reckon Safeway has some!" Finer words were never spoken in the middle of a holiday baking extravaganza.

Most of all, I'm grateful you're my grandma. Say hello to everyone for us, and I'll see you on the other side!

Going Once, Going Twice, Sold!

See that beaded eyeglass chain lanyard thingy? With all the pretty Autumn colors?

It's sold!!!

I started my etsy shop last week, just to get it set up before my craft show in November- I wanted to be able to refer people if they liked my work and wanted to order a custom piece, etc. I loaded this lanyard on to practice setting things up...and this morning it sold!

I know, I know- that's what things in shops are supposed to do, so why am I surprised...but so many more talented people than I have been starting shops recently, and haven't had any sales. So this evening I'll be packaging this beauty up, making up the gift card for the recipient, and deciding on any little goodies I might throw in the box as a thank you for their sale.

What fun!

A Meme (pron. "Meem")

It's my first meme...I had to look up how to say that word!

Aunt LoLo, over at Bubba Bubbles tagged me with a 4-square meme: find the 4th picture in your 4th folder and post it!

The time frame is dangerously close to my due date, so we should perhaps be grateful it's not anything scarier than Ernie in a mu mu. Grandma sent three home with me, and Ernie quickly parceled them out. Pink for me, purple for Aunt LoLo, and blue for Ernie.
And now you know: I have a mu mu.

And BW Photos, One Year Older and Wiser Too, and A Wiser Family....tag, you're it!

More Updates

Here is Ernie in a tutu- they're so fun to make! I'm looking forward to making lots more of these.

I've had fun making these beaded eyeglass chains- I thought the colors in this one came together nicely.

And here's our baby Mimi, all dolled up for her blessing at Church. My great-grandma made two of these dresses for my sister and my blessing. Only one is still in the family, so we ship it around the country as new babies come along. It's entirely sewn and tucked and button-holed by hand, and embellished with hand-done crochet. Amazing to see all those hundreds of neat, tidy stitches and realize how many hours she must have put in to this dress.

Craft Show Updates

The Days Fly Past

The days fly by in a blur, but here are some moments.

Mimi loves to sleep in my arms, and we've spent our nights together in an arm chair. Today she napped in her car seat- no choking or kicking, and no waking up after five minutes. Hooray, I might get to use my lovely bed again!

Wonder Daddy's aunt and uncle spent the night with us and left early in the morning for his first-ever marathon. Here they are trying to get a happy picture of Mimi, at 9:30 pm, for Nana. Unfortunately, FAIL.

Made my first loaf of french bread, and it won't be my last! Thanks for the superb recipe, Nana! (Click through for recipe.)

We've spent a few evenings with my parents- it's bliss to sit around and watch the girls entertain my family. (Thanks for letting us spend more than 16 hours with you over the weekend to watch conference!)
And thank you Mom Mom for still being willing to play Cooties with Ernie...for the hundredth time.
And thanks Mom Mom for combing your Grandma visits with ours while I learn to wrangle two daughters.
Ernie loves her time on Grandma's bed, watching cartoons and eating all of Grandpa's pretzels and cashews.
I love this picture of Grandma and Mimi!
