Easy to Please

Does anyone remember the movie "Phenomenon"? With the guy who sold chairs for a girl at his store, and she was SO THRILLED that they kept selling, and she kept making them...and then visited his house and found every. single. chair. she'd made stacked up on his porch. Yes, he loved her so much, he bought her chairs. Awww...

So my best customer is my Dad. So far I've sold him 2 eyeglass chains, 4 wash cloths, and 4 embroidered kitchen towels. He keeps saying they're for "all the ladies outside my office or "the girl you used to babysit."

But I never hear a word from these people.

Suspicious???

This morning I got another e-mail: "Breein is having a baby shower! You sell baby stuff, and we need baby stuff. Make something!"

Yes, my dad is the kind of person that goes to a Chinese restaraunt and says to the waitress "Order whatever YOU like. Please." And funny thing, he always gets the most amazing meals!

Heehee...anyway, here's your latest order, Mom and Dad! Hope Breein likes it! (And thanks for spreading the word...) One flannel receiving blanket, one diaper envelope, and 1 minky washcloth/drool cloth/throw in your purse and wipe up whatever comes out of your baby cloth.

And We're Live!

Camera is found, Etsy is stocked, and we're moving forward.

A beading we will go...

I'm in the home stretch before the craft show, and just have a few things left to do. (*trying to convince myself it's only a few things*)

I love these little beaded ornament hooks- aren't they shiny? They would look so pretty holding a pretty ornament on the tree, or linked into chains to highlight smaller ornaments.

Now to finish the last few crafts, print up the package tags, finalize the inventory list... and re-stock the etsy shop just in case anyone from the show wants to do a custom order!

Going Once, Going Twice, Sold!

See that beaded eyeglass chain lanyard thingy? With all the pretty Autumn colors?

It's sold!!!

I started my etsy shop last week, just to get it set up before my craft show in November- I wanted to be able to refer people if they liked my work and wanted to order a custom piece, etc. I loaded this lanyard on to practice setting things up...and this morning it sold!

I know, I know- that's what things in shops are supposed to do, so why am I surprised...but so many more talented people than I have been starting shops recently, and haven't had any sales. So this evening I'll be packaging this beauty up, making up the gift card for the recipient, and deciding on any little goodies I might throw in the box as a thank you for their sale.

What fun!

Craft Show Updates

Here we go!

Well now I've really gone and done it. My family knows I've been hemming and hawing over starting an Etsy shop for the last month or two. It sounds like a lot of fun once you get the logistics worked out -- How much to charge for shipping? What address do I use as the return address? Is it worth it to get a PO box to protect my family's anonymity?

BUT...the chance came up this week to pick up a booth at a local holiday bazaar, and I said yes! I'll be sharing a booth with a gal from church- she'll have her Mary Kay wares set up next to my....?? What am I going to sell? This is where you guys come in. I have a list a mile long of what I could take with me, but what do people want to see at a holiday bazaar? Anything that doesn't sell that day will go into the Etsy shop.

The way I see it, I have a few different "lines."

• There's baby-- wraps, minky wash cloths, diaper envelopes, hair bows and headbands.

• Kids- pencil roll-ups, tutus, tiaras, wands, crayon muffins, aprons.

• Home- grocery sack catcher, laundry soap, dish powder, embroidered tea towels, etched Pyrex and glass.

• Then just nice things- cards, embossed velvet scarves and Christmas stockings, embroidered hankerchiefs, beaded necklaces and bracelets.

So, leave your comments and help a deluded Momma out! Has anyone done a craft fair before? Any pointers? Anything sell particularly well? It's being held in a green-minded, family friendly, upward-mobile, and semi-affluent community. And I have seven weeks to get ready. (And yes, I'll be poring over all your blogs for display ideas, etc. You've been warned.)
